By the editors · 2 min readNutmeg & Ginger is from Jo Malone's earliest period, when the brand was still a small London apothecary and the fragrance philosophy was spice-forward and unapologetically functional. Ginger and nutmeg are the lodestars: warm, slightly sharp, culinary spices that feel more medicinal than sweet.

The composition layers lavender, neroli, and petitgrain alongside the spice, suggesting a cologne structure without being purely citrusy. Violet and lily of the valley add a subtle floral note that softens the overall character without displacing the ginger-nutmeg dominance.

Sandalwood, amber, vetiver, and leather in the base give the whole thing a dry, slightly earthy anchor. The result is an aromatic spice composition that smells purposeful and clean — a fitting signature for the original Jo Malone aesthetic.
