By the editors · 2 min readSaffron, lemon, bergamot, and rose open together — saffron's leathery-metallic warmth setting the tone, the citruses adding brightness, rose adding immediate floral weight. The combination is unusual: saffron up top pulls the start toward something dusty and slightly smoky rather than fresh.
Ambergris, cypriol, and ylang-ylang build the heart. Cypriol smolders dry and earthy-smoky, ambergris adds a salty-skin warmth, and ylang-ylang brings a banana-creamy yellow-floral counterpoint. The middle is dense and slightly resinous.
Sandalwood, oakmoss, patchouli, and musk close the base in classic chypre form. Moss and patchouli ground it earthy, sandalwood adds creamy wood, musk smooths the finish. Overall character: a smoky-floral chypre with saffron-rose lift. Projection moderate to strong, longevity excellent.
