Who can use Sillage
Sillage is for people 13 years and older. If you’re using it for a job (say, a perfume house reviewing its own entries), you confirm you’re authorised by that organisation.
Your account
You’re responsible for what happens under your account. Don’t share a magic-link with anyone else; if you think your account has been used by someone who isn’t you, email security@sillage.art and we’ll rotate your session immediately.
Your content
You own what you write.Your wardrobe, journal entries, reviews, blog posts, community posts, and perfume submissions are yours. You’re granting Sillage a worldwide, non-exclusive license to store them and display them in the ways you chose (private vs public), and to show public items in our public feeds, search, and embeddings. That’s the only license you give us.
If you delete an entry, we delete our copy within 30 days. Deleting your account wipes everything. Cached CDN copies of images may linger up to 24 hours past deletion — if that matters to you, email us and we’ll force-purge.
Community rules
Don’t:
- Post spam, shill, or content that exists to promote a product you haven’t smelled.
- Post fake reviews (ours or anyone else’s house).
- Scrape or bulk-export our catalog — we’ll offer a public API in Phase 7 for that.
- Impersonate another user, a perfumer, or a house.
- Post anything illegal, infringing, or genuinely harmful to someone else.
We moderate with a human + Haiku (Anthropic) hybrid, and will flag or remove content that breaks these rules. Repeat violations get your account suspended.
Perfume data
Factual metadata (perfume name, house, year, note lists) is sourced from public datasets and is not copyrightable. Editorial descriptions, accord fingerprints, and scent-twin explanations are our own expression, written by Claude against our house style. If you’re a rights-holder and something on Sillage misrepresents you, see the DMCA + takedown page.
Paid services
Sillage is free today. If we add paid tiers, we’ll email you at least 30 days in advance; nothing you use today will become paid without that notice.
Warranties + liability
Sillage is provided as-is. Editorial is AI-written and may contain errors; treat recommendations as suggestions, not medical advice, not an endorsement of any purchase.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Sillage is not liable for indirect or consequential damages, and our aggregate liability to you is capped at the greater of $100 or what you’ve paid us in the last 12 months (currently $0).
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, United States. Disputes go to courts in San Francisco County, California.
Changes
Material changes are announced via email at least 14 days before they take effect. Non-material edits (typos, clarifications) happen in place with an updated “Last updated” date at the top.
