By the editors · 2 min readThe petitgrain and citrus open with a bright, almost astringent clarity before cardamom adds warmth beneath the sharpness. This was an early example of what would become the clean-woody-aromatic template for mass-market men's fragrance in the 2000s, built around transparent woods and vetiver rather than heavy amber or leather.

As it settles, sage and rosemary create an herbal backbone that keeps the composition from tilting too sweet, while oakmoss and sandalwood provide a soapy-smooth drydown. The white florals are subdued, more textile softener than florist. It evokes college-age optimism and beach towns in summer, the scent of a casual confidence that hasn't yet learned to second-guess itself.

A straightforward aromatic that prioritized accessibility over complexity, influential in its time for making woody freshness ubiquitous.
