The black currant at the heart is a deliberate wrong note, adding tartness and a slightly jammy quality that disrupts what would otherwise be a classical feminine floral. Frankincense and incense dry everything down, patchouli sharpening the base, sandalwood providing cohesion. This is an Amouage that resists the house's usual grand oriental architecture in favor of something more unsettled — the florals never fully settle into prettiness, the resinous base never quite offers comfort. Provocative by design, beautiful by accident.
