Weighted by intensity across 5 accords.

Every perfume in Sillage is represented as a distribution across canonical accord slugs — a lingua franca for scent. Two fragrances with overlapping fingerprints are scent-twins, even if they share no literal note.

By the editors · 2 min readLineage opens with a sharp exhale of ginger and saffron that feels ceremonial rather than decorative—spice as intensity, not warmth. The opening quickly gives way to a thick weave of resins: myrrh and frankincense settle in the chest, familiar but never sweetened, with the slightly medicinal edge that marks genuine incense materials. This is not church but something older, drier, more austere.

As it develops, the vetiver and patchouli anchor the resins to earth, while labdanum and benzoin add just enough balsamic weight to prevent the composition from becoming purely ascetic. The myrrh thread runs through every stage, binding top to base with continuity. What emerges is less a progression than a slow revelation of depth—each hour peeling back another layer of the same essential character.

This is Amouage leaning into its strength: unapologetic density, Middle Eastern heritage worn without nostalgia. It suits those who want their fragrance to feel like a commitment, not an accessory.
