Black pomegranate opens with a tart, dark-fruit edge that cuts through the expected sweetness of a rose fragrance. May Rose takes the heart — not a stylized or feminized rose but an almost literal flower, full and slightly waxy. Vanilla in the base adds warmth without adding sweetness in the conventional sense, letting the pomegranate's tartness persist into the drydown.
This is one of Avon's more compositionally restrained releases. Three notes, each occupying its tier cleanly, with real character. Wears intimately.
