By the editors · 2 min readBlack Suede is a product of its era — a 1980 leather chypre built on the structural confidence of high-oakmoss architecture and a spice-and-leather core that asks full commitment of its wearer. Aldehydes and bergamot open with the bright, slightly waxy lift characteristic of classic masculine construction; nutmeg, coriander, and carnation follow with warm, aromatic depth. The heart is a complex bouquet of florals — rose, iris, lavender, ylang-ylang, geranium, violet — underpinned by clove and leather in a mid-century masculine idiom. Oakmoss, civet, and amber close warmly and emphatically, with anise adding a quiet herbal depth. A capsule of an era.
