By the editors · 2 min readM/Mink opens with an austerity that feels almost ascetic—cool, papery, faintly mineral. There's nothing plush about the first moments; instead, it reads cerebral and restrained, like brushed concrete or unvarnished wood. The frankincense emerges gradually, lending a resinous clarity that feels more cathedral than souk.
As it settles, amber and patchouli appear, but they're stripped of their usual ornamental warmth. The amber stays dry and honeyed rather than syrupy; the patchouli is clean, almost dusty, with none of the hippie headshop associations. The composition remains sparse throughout, with each element articulated rather than blurred into a single chord.
This is fragrance as architectural gesture—lean, modern, and a little austere. It suits people who prefer their sensuality understated, and who appreciate the tension between warmth and restraint. Not a crowd-pleaser, but intentionally so.
