By the editors · 2 min readTabac Exquis is built around the relationship between tobacco and chocolate — two materials that share a deep, fermented richness when they meet. Cinnamon in the opening adds heat without aggression, and iris grounds the heart in something powdery and abstract that keeps the composition from becoming purely gourmand. The base is dense with resins: myrrh, benzoin, and olibanum generating a smoky, church-like heft that Ambroxan's skin-like warmth prevents from becoming static.
This is an evening choice — warm, deliberate, and quite close to skin. Caron's contemporary take on their own tobacco lineage (Tabac Blond, 1919) translated into the resinous oriental idiom of the early 2020s.
