Clary sage in the heart adds a dry herbal bitterness that keeps the vetiver from getting sweet. The base is leather and tobacco: the leather is supple, the tobacco lightly cured rather than ashy. It reads as a cold-weather vetiver — closer to a study or a coat collar than to a tropical beach.
