By the editors · 2 min readEmpreinte opens with peach and bergamot in the manner of late-sixties feminines — ripe and luminous, an era when fruit was used as warmth rather than sweetness. The heart brings melon alongside jasmine, iris, and rose — unusual for 1970, when melon wasn't the fixture it became in later decades, giving the composition an unexpected freshness for its age.

Castoreum in the base operates as it typically does in vintage compositions: a warm, slightly leathery animalic quality beneath sandalwood and patchouli, amber rounding the whole. Virginia cedar adds a dry woodiness. A Courrèges fragrance that captures a particular moment in French fashion perfumery — ambitious and beautiful.
