By the editors · 2 min readDior Homme Intense opens with a powdered iris so concentrated it feels almost edible—lipstick, violet pastilles, the dusty sweetness of cosmetic compacts. Within minutes, the composition warms considerably, as lavender and pear-like facets fold into a backdrop of sheer amber and cocoa. The effect is both makeup counter and après-rasage, feminine and masculine markers blurred into something singular.
What distinguishes this from the original Dior Homme is density. The iris here is thicker, more resinous, less transparent. It clings rather than floats. Over hours it settles into a soft, slightly vanillic skin scent with traces of clean musk and vetiver underneath.
This works best in cool weather and on those comfortable with fragrance that announces itself. It's formal without being stiff, intimate without being quiet—a composition that treats powdered florals as architecture rather than decoration.
