By the editors · 2 min readVelvet Wood is exactly what the name says — a fragrance built around the smell of lacquered, polished hardwood. There is no top-note hook here, no citrus or spice spike. The composition opens already in its heart, with galbanum's bitter green resin and the dry abstract idea of ebony.
A black leather base rises slowly, less an animalic note than a furniture-store accord — tanned, stitched, almost waxy. Rodrigo Flores-Roux composed it as a near-monolithic statement: tight, austere, deliberately small in vocabulary.
It is unusual among the Velvet Collection for refusing all sweetness. Wear in cool weather, expect skin-close projection and longevity that varies by chemistry; the leather is the part that lingers.
