By the editors · 2 min readNamed for the Pixies song, Debaser smells nothing like grunge and everything like a refined niche take on fig and iris. Pear and bergamot open in a pale, slightly dewy register — the pear mild and soft, bergamot adding clean aromatic brightness. Iris and fig in the heart form a strange and beautiful partnership: iris chalky and slightly cold, fig with its characteristic green-sap darkness and milky-sweet quality, the two notes pulling in almost opposite directions while sharing something elemental. Tonka and moss in the base warm and earth the accord without sweetening it excessively. A quietly distinctive fragrance: unexpected pairings, understated.
