By the editors · 2 min readStar anise and cardamom form a spiced opening with an herbal-anise character that's neither sweet nor sharp — dry and distinctive. The clary sage in the heart reinforces this herbal register with its slightly earthy, ambiguous floral quality.
Tonka bean provides the base — soft, warm, slightly sweet and almond-adjacent. Note prior puts lavender and herbal accords at the top, reflecting how the clary sage and anise together create an aromatic herbal signature.
This is a minimalist construction: three note layers, each clearly legible. It reads as a soft aromatic fougere without the fougere's usual lavender-coumarin scaffolding. Leans unisex, suited to casual daytime wear in cooler weather.
