By the editors · 2 min readIris butter opens thick and waxy, its cool violet-powder sheen immediately streaked with peach lactones and a sharp blackcurrant snap that keeps the floral from turning cosmetic. Civet and castoreum muscle in underneath, turning the composition into a feral iris: the musks heat the butter until it smells like warm skin, while blue lotus adds a salty, aquatic nuance that drifts in and out like breath. Mid-stage folds the fruit into ambergris, producing a gray, iodine-tinged amber that feels more oceanic than sweet, letting the iris recede to a suede-like veil. Dry-down is mostly that salty ambergris castoreum combo, soft, musky, faintly tobacco-stained, with only a ghost of violet powder left on cuffs.
