By the editors · 2 min readHabit Rouge opens with a bright citrus charge laced with cinnamon and something vaguely boozy—an old-fashioned tonic quality that feels more apothecary than bar cart. The rosewood and florals underneath keep it from turning too sharp, lending a polished warmth that was clearly designed for a man in tailored clothing.

As it settles, the patchouli emerges earthy and full-bodied, tempered by benzoin's sweetness and a soft leather that never growls. Vanilla rounds the base without pushing it into gourmand territory; this is still fundamentally dry and composed, more saddle soap than dessert. The overall effect is somewhere between a gentleman's club and a spice market—civilized exoticism, if such a thing exists.

Habit Rouge has the bones of classic men's perfumery: structured, unapologetically masculine, built to last through a long evening. It belongs to an era when men's fragrances were expected to announce presence, not blend politely into the background. Those who find modern masculines too aquatic or too safe may recognize this as the template.
