Weighted by intensity across 8 accords.

Every perfume in Sillage is represented as a distribution across canonical accord slugs — a lingua franca for scent. Two fragrances with overlapping fingerprints are scent-twins, even if they share no literal note.

By the editors · 2 min readThe legendary chypre that taught the world what a chypre could be. Mitsouko opens with a flicker of bergamot before revealing its signature accord: a peach note that isn't sweet or juicy but muted and skin-close, as if preserved in resin. Jasmine and rose provide structure without dominating, their florals tempered by something darker underneath.

As it settles, the oakmoss takes command—earthy, austere, uncompromising in the way classical perfumery allowed before reformulation. Cinnamon adds a faint spiced warmth, vetiver grounds it further, and amber softens the edges just enough. The effect is subdued melancholy, neither bright nor heavy.

This is the extrait, which wears closer and richer than the eau de toilette. It suits those comfortable with restraint, with perfumes that whisper rather than announce. A composition that feels less like wearing fragrance and more like carrying a mood.
