By the editors · 2 min readBrin de Réglisse is pure Jean-Claude Ellena: four materials, no excess. Orange blossom barely registers at the opening before lavender and licorice take hold — the titular accord, herbal and medicinal and genuinely distinctive. The licorice is not anise-candy but the actual root: dark, slightly bitter, damp earth. Hay in the base dries everything toward a clean, almost ghostly finish.
The entire composition hovers near the skin from the first hour. Sillage is minimal by design — this is a fragrance for those who appreciate that restraint can be a form of sophistication. A Hermessence that rewards proximity and disdains performance.
