By the editors · 2 min readA waterfall of lotus and white flowers refracted through melon—*L'Eau d'Issey* opens with that unexpected aquatic sweetness that defined the 1990s, yet feels more deliberate than its countless imitators. The freesia and melon create a dewy, almost transparent intro that never tips into cloying. What keeps this from being simply "fresh" is the slow emergence of creamy florals underneath, particularly lily and a subdued tuberose that bloom without dominating.

As it dries, sandalwood and cedar anchor the composition, lending a soft woody structure that prevents the whole from evaporating like morning mist. The musk and amber add warmth without heaviness. It's essentially a study in restraint—a minimalist interpretation of femininity that captures Miyake's aesthetic philosophy.

Best suited to those who appreciate clean scents with complexity, or anyone curious about the fragrance that launched a thousand water-themed flankers. It wears close, polite, and unexpectedly enduring.
