By the editors · 2 min readSaffron opens with its characteristic metallic-warm quality, adding immediate depth and a slightly leathery edge. The pyramid here is sparse, so saffron carries most of the early character without competition from citrus or lighter top notes.
Labdanum in the heart brings a resinous, dark amber quality — thick and slightly animalic. This is where the oud association forms: labdanum's heaviness combined with patchouli's earthiness in the base constructs a convincing oud-adjacent texture even without literal oud listed.
Sandalwood provides some creaminess beneath, softening the combination. The overall character is dense, resinous, and earthy — a heavy oriental leaning composition suited to cold weather and evening wear.
