By the editors · 2 min readRaspberry, cardamom, bergamot, and nutmeg open in a warm, spiced-fruity accord — the raspberry providing bright fruit alongside bergamot's citrus, nutmeg and cardamom adding immediate spiced depth. A rich opening that signals amber and resin to come.
The heart is where Back to Black becomes serious: oakmoss, vetiver, frankincense, honey, and patchouli together construct a dense, smoky-earthy accord of considerable weight. Honey softens the incense; frankincense adds ceremonial depth; vetiver and oakmoss provide the earthy grounding that anchors everything.
Ambergris and labdanum close it with rich, warm resin. A Kilian of considerable depth and ambition — dark, complex, and deliberately aphrodisiac in the classical sense. Few fragrances in this price tier achieve this level of coherent darkness.
