By the editors · 2 min readL'Erbolario's Ginepro Nero — Black Juniper — takes the juniper plant as its thematic axis without placing the note explicitly in the pyramid. Grapefruit and bergamot open with sharp, slightly bitter citrus before pink pepper adds spice and cedar provides early woody structure. The base is the chypre core of the composition: oakmoss's earthy-mossy depth, vetiver's smoky-earthy grounding, benzoin's resinous-balsamic warmth, and patchouli's dark richness layered together. An eight-note Italian chypre-fougère with the careful restraint characteristic of botanical wellness houses. Wears with a dry, austere quality that suits its name — the darkness implied by "nero" is present from first application.
