By the editors · 2 min readEncre Noire a l'Extreme takes the original's dark vetiver premise and pushes it toward the ceremonial. Bergamot arrives briefly — a formality, a clearing of space — before iris and orris root establish a cool, rooty presence alongside frankincense and incense. These materials share a dryness that prevents anything from turning sweet; the composition has an almost architectural quality through the opening.
Vetiver deepens through the heart and into the base where it meets sandalwood and patchouli, benzoin adding just enough warmth to keep the whole from feeling austere. This is winter fragrance at its most considered — precise, unhurried, and uncompromising.
