By the editors · 2 min readReleased within Lancôme's more adventurous premium range, L'Autre Ôud is a damp, resinous composition that resists the sweeter Middle Eastern templates. Cypriol, clary sage, and saffron open with smoky, slightly medicinal character — the saffron running cool rather than warm here, restrained by the bitter green of the sage. Bulgarian rose in the heart appears as a single concentrated note, edged with leather and myrrh rather than plush or lush.
The base deepens through vetiver and patchouli while oud and moss anchor the drydown in terrain that skews more European in structure than Gulf — darker and earthier than it is sweet or honeyed. Reserved but assertive, it rewards patience: the full character only emerges an hour into wear.
