By the editors · 2 min readBlack pepper opens sharp and dry, projecting immediately without sweetness. The transition to the heart happens quickly and without cushioning.
Sandalwood and cedarwood form the structural core — creamy and dry respectively, held together by ambroxan's clean, skin-like radiance. Styrax in the base introduces a faint resinous, rubbery edge that gives depth without veering into incense territory. The styrax and woods together create a quiet smokiness that reads as dark and mineral.
The overall character is austere: woody, slightly smoky, and cool rather than warm. This wears close to skin but maintains presence. Best suited to cool weather and contexts where restraint is valued over projection.
