By the editors · 2 min readVan Py Rhum is an extrait de parfum built around a single obsessive question: what is vanilla in its fullest, most complex expression? Lorenzo Pazzaglia answers with multiple vanilla strains — Bourbon, Madagascan, Tahitian, Island — alongside tonka bean and rum, a layering that reveals vanilla's range from bright aldehydic florals through rich tropical creaminess to deep resinous warmth. The rum appears twice: an opening spirit that sharpens the vanilla with alcoholic lift, and a deeper aged rum in the base that adds woody complexity. White flowers and caramel in the heart provide contrast; patchouli and oud in the base root it in darkness. An exceptionally focused niche work.
