By the editors · 2 min readM. Micallef's Monégasque luxury house takes a classic chypre-leather approach with Royal Vintage, updated with modern ingredient sensibility. Apple, pink pepper, and bergamot open with a clean, slightly spiced freshness — the pink pepper providing lift, the apple a rounded fruitiness, the bergamot standard top-note clarity. The heart shifts register: leather enters alongside jasmine and thyme. The leather is dry and well-handled; jasmine adds warmth; thyme contributes a herbal sharpness that distinguishes the heart from a conventional floral leather.
Moss, amber, patchouli, and musk form the base — a genuine chypre foundation with the green-earthiness that moss provides, anchored by patchouli's depth and amber's warmth. A leather-chypre that earns its vintage designation by respecting the genre's structural logic while keeping the materials clean and contemporary.
