By the editors · 2 min readIris Prima is Penhaligon's take on the carrot-iris-leather register that niche iris fragrances usually occupy — polished, balletic, and slightly nostalgic. The opening is soft bergamot and rosin, reminiscent of stage dust on a wooden floor.

The heart is where the iris lives: cool, powdery, and floral-green, buttressed by a violet and a restrained leather accord that reads more tack-room than garment. The base is sandalwood, amber, and benzoin — warm but quiet. Projection is intimate, longevity excellent. A fit for office days, understated evenings, and anyone who thinks of iris as a texture rather than a flower. A genuine classic of the modern iris genre.
