By the editors · 2 min readThe opening is almost perfunctory — bergamot alone, briefly, before jasmine and ylang-ylang arrive and the fragrance locates its register: full, warm, and unapologetically opulent. The base is where Roja Haute Luxe justifies its position at the top of the house's range. Oakmoss and labdanum form the chypre skeleton; iris and benzoin wrap them in powdery warmth; vanilla adds a soft creaminess without sweetness. Ginger and cinnamon provide measured spice, styrax a smoky-resinous quality that prevents the whole from turning too soft. Despite its density, the fragrance wears close to skin — cocooning rather than broadcasting. Roja Dove described it as a chypre wrapped in cashmere, which is exactly what it is.
