Weighted by intensity across 11 accords.

Every perfume in Sillage is represented as a distribution across canonical accord slugs — a lingua franca for scent. Two fragrances with overlapping fingerprints are scent-twins, even if they share no literal note.

By the editors · 2 min readA fireplace draft carrying the ghost of a cigar box. Écrin de Fumée opens with rum that's less liquid than vapor—sweet, medicinal, almost pharmaceutical in its frankincense-like sharpness. This isn't the molasses warmth of tropical fantasy but something drier, more resinous, as if the spirit has been absorbed into old wood and left to cure.

The cocoa arrives not as chocolate but as raw powder with a faint bitterness, grounding the rum's volatility. Together they create an effect that's austere rather than gourmand, almost ascetic in its restraint. The smoke referenced in the name feels implicit rather than literal, more the memory of combustion than actual incense.

This wears close and contemplative, suited to someone who finds comfort in libraries and late autumn evenings. It assumes familiarity with Lutens' vocabulary—that preference for the skeletal over the plush, the idea over the decoration.
