By the editors · 2 min readOud Wood Intense opens with a jolt of ginger that quickly settles into a shadowy procession of woods. The sandalwood arrives first, still warm but rendered austere by guaiac's smoky undertone. Unlike its predecessor, this is less about oud as exotic centerpiece and more about creating dense, resinous depth—patchouli and vetiver anchor the composition with earthy weight, while castoreum adds an animalic hum that keeps the woods from feeling polite.
The nutmeg and clary sage function as atmospheric spices rather than standalone notes, lending a dry, almost incense-like quality to the middle development. What emerges is a fragrance that feels enclosed and meditative, less approachable than the original Oud Wood but more committed to its darkness. It wears close and substantial, suitable for those who want woodiness without brightness, and who prefer their luxury quiet rather than announced.
