By the editors · 2 min readCologne Noire is a cologne with sleeves rolled up. Neroli and bergamot do the traditional opening, then ginger and black pepper take over and refuse to let the brightness coast.
Cardamom underneath gives the whole thing a savoury, almost culinary feeling — close to a peeled root rather than a flower. The composition stays linear and stays close; it doesn't develop so much as repeat itself with conviction. Ideal as a hot-weather refresher with more spine than the average citrus eau, and short enough that reapplying is part of the ritual.
