Every perfume in Sillage is represented as a distribution across canonical accord slugs — a lingua franca for scent. Two fragrances with overlapping fingerprints are scent-twins, even if they share no literal note.

By the editors · 2 min readM7 Fresh arrived as a lighter answer to the polarizing original M7, retaining the unusual oud-in-the-heart structure while opening it up for a broader audience. Grapefruit and bergamot open fresh and citrusy, the bergamot carrying a soft sweetness that sets up an approachable entry.

The heart is the point: ginger and oud together form an unusual combination that's simultaneously warm and slightly sharp. The ginger gives the oud a spiced edge that prevents it from reading as sombre; instead, it reads as an interesting, slightly exotic wood. This transition from citrus to ginger-oud is the main event.

Vetiver and musk in the base are minimal and functional: earthy, clean, providing just enough structure for the oud to land on. M7 Fresh is a more wearable version of an odd idea, and the oddness is still visible.
