By the editors · 2 min readPart of Zara's Silent Flowers collection composed by Jo Malone, Balade De Figuer evokes sun-dried Provençal fig groves with unusual specificity. The opening deploys grapefruit and tangerine alongside raw fig leaf — tart, green, and slightly sappy — establishing a tension between the fruit and the plant. The heart deepens into ripe fig pulp, petitgrain bringing a woody-green continuity, iris adding a cool earthy powder, and tobacco leaf and milk together lending a parched, pastoral warmth.
The base of Haitian vetiver and muscenone provides a clean, airy trail that holds for several hours. This is among Zara's most considered compositions — complex enough to reveal something new at each stage, and representative of what the Jo Malone collaboration brought to the house's upper tier.
