By the editors · 2 min readUniversal Oud dispenses with preamble. Three notes, one direction: black pepper opens with a short, metallic dryness before giving way immediately to oud — woody, leathery, carrying that characteristic animalic depth expected from agarwood-based orientals. Patchouli closes the composition with a chocolatey, earthy grounding that amplifies the oud's dark quality rather than sweetening it.
There is no floral relief, no citrus brightness, no vanilla softness. This is a bare, focused composition aimed squarely at oud enthusiasts who want the material to speak without decoration. At the price point, the oud will read synthetic, but the character is preserved: intimate, resinous, built for cold weather and low-light occasions.
