The opening of soil tincture, guava, passionfruit, and fig creates an earthy-tropical tension — simultaneously subterranean and bright — that signals the fragrance's appetite for contradiction. Night blooming jasmine provides an unexpected feminine note against hay and mineral accords; incense grounds the heart without pushing it toward the ceremonial.
The base assembles the expected ecological dossier: vetiver, leather, oakmoss, and teak wood read as forest floor rather than perfume studio, with animal notes adding textural depth. Zoologist's 2020 reformulation is bolder and more legible than the original while maintaining the same essential otherness.
