Acqua di Sardegna
Niche perfumery rooted in Alghero, Sardinia.
Acqua di Sardegna was established in 2008 in Alghero, the Catalan-influenced city on Sardinia's northwest coast, by founder and creative director Mauro Aprea. After travelling the Mediterranean, Aprea settled in Alghero with the intention of becoming the first perfumer to systematically document the island's olfactory landscape through fine fragrance. The house positions itself explicitly as a cultural custodian, treating Sardinia's natural heritage — mastic scrubland, salt winds, ancient cork oaks, and aromatic Mediterranean flora — as both raw material and narrative subject. Collections range from the fresh citrus-and-brine character of the entry-level Acqua line to the richer, more concentrated offerings of the Sandalia and Shardana luxury tiers. The house works with international master perfumers on a commission basis, though individual perfumer credits are not prominently publicised; all creative direction remains with Aprea, ensuring a coherent island identity across the portfolio. Acqua di Sardegna distributes through its own online boutique and selected Italian and international retailers, occupying a credible regional-niche position comparable to other landscape-rooted Italian houses.

Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
