Agar Aura
Artisan oud, fractionally distilled.
Agar Aura is an artisanal oud house founded by distiller and perfumer Taha Syed, with its first releases dating to 2012. Operating out of Canada, Syed has built a quiet but devoted following among oud collectors, reckoned in the same conversation as figures like Ensar Oud for the depth of his work with agarwood. The house's distinctive practice is fractional separation: Syed distils oud, breaks the distillate down into individual aromatic components, and recombines them to suit a desired profile — keeping smoke and leather, say, while editing out the sourer, more medicinal corners. The result is a catalogue of oud oils, mukhallats, and concentrated perfumes that range from clean and resinous to deeply animalic, often built around wild and cultivated agarwood from Southeast Asia. Distribution is direct, through the Agar Aura site, with limited availability via specialist attar retailers.

DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
