Agua De Colonia 1916 (Myrurgia)
Historic Spanish cologne tradition established over a century ago.
Agua de Colonia 1916 is a heritage fragrance associated with Myrurgia, the Spanish perfume house founded by Esteve Monegal y Prat in Barcelona in 1916 and now held within the Puig Group. Myrurgia was one of Spain's pioneering fragrance companies, drawing on the tradition of Catalan craftsmanship and the influence of French perfumery to create products that positioned Spain as a serious participant in the European fragrance market. The 1916 Agua de Colonia — a traditional cologne format — is one of the house's foundational expressions: a fresh, citrus-forward composition built on bergamot, neroli, and lavender in the classical eau de cologne structure that dominated European toiletry culture through the early twentieth century. Over the decades, Myrurgia launched numerous successful fragrances, including Maderas de Oriente, before being absorbed into the Puig portfolio. The 1916 reference now functions as a heritage marker, evoking the house's founding moment and anchoring its identity in the history of Spanish fragrance culture.
