Alghabra Parfums
Damascene attar tradition, composed in modern Istanbul.
Alghabra Parfums was formally launched as a niche fragrance brand in Istanbul in 2018 by Anas Alghabra, a Syrian entrepreneur who relocated to Turkey in 2013 and built a career distributing fine fragrances — including as the Turkish distributor for Ajmal and M.INT Parfums — before creating his own house. The brand's debut collection, Poetic Scents of Damascus, pays tribute to the Old City of Damascus and to a lineage of Damascene attar makers, translating the jasmine gardens, spice markets, and ancient streets of the City of Jasmine into five long-lasting extrait-strength compositions. A second collection, Senses of Istanbul, maps the seven hills of the city through seven fragrances that engage all the senses. Packaging is a collaborative artwork, featuring hand-painted collages by artist Fatih Başar that render each fragrance box a visual document of Middle Eastern heritage. Perfumers Meltem Akdag, Jorge Lee, and Cem Çetinkaya compose the fragrances, blending Damascene attar tradition with contemporary Turkish niche sensibility.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
