Anglia Perfumery
Revivalist English perfumery built on Crown Perfumery formulas.
Anglia Perfumery was founded in 2002 by Lothar Ruff, the Berlin-based proprietor of The English Scent, who had spent years acquiring and preserving discontinued British fragrance formulas. The house was created with a single purpose: to revive and carefully steward a body of classic English scents whose original recipes dated as far back as 1900, many of them connected to the defunct Crown Perfumery. Rather than reinterpret these formulas for modern tastes, Ruff undertook a conservative restoration — slightly updating the compositions while preserving their essential English character and the period conventions of their structure. Royal Court and Imperial Lime were the inaugural releases, both grounded in formulas from the Edwardian era. All fragrances are produced in a small factory in England, and the house operates primarily through specialist channels. In 2020, Ruff passed leadership to his daughter Julia, ensuring the project would continue as a family concern.
