Annette Neuffer
All-natural perfumery from a Bavarian musician.
Annette Neuffer is a self-taught German perfumer based in Freising, near Munich, with a parallel career as a jazz trumpeter and vocalist of some reputation — Wynton Marsalis once described her tone as dark and warm. She began composing perfumes informally around the early 2000s and formally launched her Duftmanufaktur in 2014, after navigating the EU's regulatory hurdles for small-batch fragrance sales. The line is entirely natural, with no synthetic ingredients, and is widely regarded as one of the strongest all-natural perfume houses operating in Europe. Compositions tend toward concentrated, narrative orientals — Avicenna, a spicy rose oriental, is among the best known — and lean on high-quality raw materials sourced personally. Production is small, and most sales run through Neuffer's own naturparfum.net site and a handful of natural-perfume specialists.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
