Azteque
Niche fragrance drawing from Mesoamerican ritual and materials.
Azteque is a niche fragrance house founded in 2020 that draws its name and visual identity from pre-Columbian Mesoamerican civilisation, using Aztec iconography, ritual practices, and botanical materials — copal, cacao, tobacco, wild flowers — as creative references. Working with perfumer Jacopo Luccato, the house develops compositions that attempt to evoke the sensory world of ancient ceremonial and daily life before European contact. Copal resin, a sacred incense used in Aztec ritual, appears as a recurring element, giving many compositions a smoky, reverent quality that distinguishes the house within the niche market. The brand occupies a narrow but distinct creative space: ethnobotanical perfumery approached through historical imagination rather than contemporary wellness, aimed at collectors who want fragrance with genuine cultural specificity and archaeological grounding.
