Bench.
Bench is the Philippine fashion and lifestyle label Ben Chan founded in 1987 as a small T-shirt shop inside the SM Makati department store. Chan, from a family of starch-makers, expanded quickly into denim, underwear, accessories, and personal care, and the brand became one of the country's most visible — endorsed at various points by Bruno Mars, Brooklyn Beckham, and Lee Min-ho. Fragrance arrived in 2012 and has grown into a sizeable catalogue of body sprays and eau de toilettes aimed at a young domestic and diaspora audience. Compositions are sweet, fruity, and inexpensive, sold in Bench's own stores and supermarkets across the Philippines, the Middle East, and parts of the United States. Owned by Suyen Corporation, Bench operates well over six hundred retail locations and treats fragrance as an entry-level extension of its clothing offer rather than as a stand-alone perfumery project.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
