Biotherm
Biotherm is a French skin care brand founded in 1952 by Jos Jullien and Adrien Barthélémy, built around the discovery of unusually plankton-rich thermal mineral water from a spring in the Pyrenees. The brand built its reputation on hydration technology anchored to this proprietary Life Plankton water source before being acquired by L'Oréal in 1970. Fragrances represent a secondary and largely discontinued part of the Biotherm catalog, introduced from 1997 onwards primarily as skin care-adjacent body sprays and eaux de toilette. Biotherm fragrances lean fresh and aquatic — extensions of the brand's water and purity positioning rather than an autonomous fragrance program. Notable releases include Eau Pure (2008) by Nathalie Lorson and Eau Vitaminée. Perfumers including Dominique Ropion, Bruno Jovanovic, and Antoine Maisondieu contributed to the catalog over the years. Biotherm operates under L'Oréal's Luxe division and distributes globally through department stores, pharmacies, and its own digital channels. The fragrance line has contracted significantly as the brand focuses on its core skin care identity.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
