Black Oud London
African and Arab heritage rendered in oud.
Black Oud London was founded by Walid Anan in London in 2018, merging African and Arab perfuming traditions with the craft sensibility of the British niche scene. Anan, born in Sudan and based in London, channels his bicultural background into compositions that take oud as a starting point and move outward through ceremonial spice, dark resins, and animalic facets that reflect both continental African and Levantine heritage. Releases including Black Oud EDP and the Mukhallat blends carry substantial sillage and staying power consistent with their Eastern influences. The house distributes through UK specialty retailers and direct channels, earning attention in niche communities for its willingness to present genuinely challenging, uncompromising compositions rather than softened crossover blends. Black Oud London stands out as a distinctly post-colonial fragrance voice in an otherwise conventional London market.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
