Bmrvls
Scent that finishes on your skin, not in the bottle.
Bmrvls (a deliberate vowel-stripped typography evoking graphic minimalism) was founded in Germany in 2020 by Battal Modica. The house builds its philosophy around what it calls anti-projection: fragrances designed to close inward, finishing on skin rather than pushing outward into a room. This is a reaction against the arms race in performance and sillage that characterises much of the market, and a bid to reclaim intimacy as a value in fine fragrance. The German location is apt — a country with a strong tradition of functionalist design tends to produce perfumers who question conventions rather than amplify them. Modica's approach to composition treats subtlety as sophistication, and the house communicates with a graphic directness that matches the aesthetic of the liquid inside. Bmrvls remains small and deliberately under-distributed, operating at the contemplative end of European niche.

Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
