Castle Forbes
A Scottish estate workshop's perfume and shaving line.
Castle Forbes is a Scottish luxury grooming and fragrance house established in 1996 at the historic Castle Forbes estate in Aberdeenshire — seat of the Forbes clan — by Lady Forbes and her collaborator Andrew French. What began as a domestic project to create fine-quality scented shaving preparations grew, under French's perfumery expertise, into one of the most respected names in British artisan grooming. The house's essential-oil shaving creams, aftershave balms, and colognes are produced in small quantities from natural ingredients, honouring the tradition of Haute Parfumerie while maintaining the quiet luxury and restraint appropriate to a highland estate. Castle Forbes describes its aesthetic as 'Quiet Luxury' — high-quality without designer premium pricing — a philosophy it compares to Savile Row tailoring and fine Scotch whisky: patient, unhurried, and uncompromising in materials. French's perfumery compositions form the olfactory backbone of the collection, which remains independently owned.
DNA over time
Each column is an era. Each colored band shows that family’s share of accord weight across every perfume the house released in that window. Bigger band = the house leaned harder on that family.
